Dragonflies are powerful and enduring, with a larval stage in water, they then take to the air and live between Earth and Sky.  Demonstrating ability to change in relation to their environment they teach of the importance of being aware and responsive to nature.  This is key in Ecological Restoration – particularly in urban areas.  

What We Do

At Dragonfly Environmental, we are specialists in the ecological restoration of natural areas particularly waterways, wetlands and saltmarshes. It’s more than  “bush regeneration” it is increasing resilience in these areas.  We can’t always get urban areas back to their ‘natural state’, given the catchment and the situation in urban areas.  We can however assist in the retention of ecological systems and processes, biodiversity and an area’s ability to thrive.

From large scale planting to fine scale native vegetation care (weed removal), seed collection, habitat re-creation.

Specialists in Waterways and wetlands, implementation of Vegetation Management Plans, Threatened Species habitat restoration/ creation/ management, community engagement in ecosystem care and connection and more.

With head office based on Dharawal and Durag Country (Western Sydney) our current focus is throughout NSW with specialists projects in Vic and QLD.   Project examples across Greater Sydney and east coast of Australia showcase the diversity of projects and environments.

We exist to make a change. By working to restore and care for natural areas, we can counter the effects of biodiversity loss and build resilience. Every year, every project has enabled us to commit to what we stand for and give back to our communities and the environment.

The People – with 14 dedicated full-time Site Supervisors and over 100 Natural Area Specialists (many with 5+ years experience) our people are the difference.  Taking pride in the outcomes and delight in seeing the changes in sites improving conditions and community connection to places.

This is the age of regeneration and increasing awareness of the importance of natural areas thriving among urban places, natures role in over all well being where all life including people are better off.

Awards & Recognition

In 2011, we were awarded an Engineers Australia Award for Excellence for carrying out the world’s largest-ever saltmarsh re-creation in Penrhyn Estuary, Botany Bay, as part of works to mitigate the impact of nearby port infrastructure expansion.

We also received the Sustainability in Business Award at the Pittwater Council 2011 Sustainability Awards for our efforts to reduce our business’s carbon footprint.
